Black-backed Jackals (Lupulella mesomelas). They are small but extremely adaptable carnivores. Adults are only around 5–10 kg (11–22 lb), yet they hunt rodents, hares, birds and other small animals, eat insects and plant material, and readily scavenge carcasses.
